Hero teases Xtreme 200S and confirms the launch date of the motorcycle as 30th of this month.
Having attended to the commuter segment with the launch of the 2018 line-up of the Splendor and Passion series, it’s time for Hero MotoCorp to shift back its focus to the premium segment. Targeted towards the premium market, the Xtreme 200S is a much-hyped product from the brand which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. Also confirming the launch date of 30th January, Hero teased the Xtreme 200S through an invite.
The invite reads “What’s NXT, January 30th 2018, New Delhi” which hints that the awaited Xtreme 200S is going to be launched on that date. Customer deliveries are likely to begin from next month onwards. Recently, a leaked image of the production-spec Xtreme 200S surfaced on the internet which made it clear that the domestic automaker has tried to retain maximum parts from the concept.
Powered by a 200cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, the Hero Xtreme 200S develops 18.34 BHP of power and 17.2 Nm of torque. The carburetted motor comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. While the suspension setup comprises of telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear, braking is performed by disc brakes on both the wheels. The motorcycle is likely to be equipped with ABS as well.
Earlier, it was anticipated that Hero will launch the motorcycle at the Auto Expo which is scheduled to begin from 7th February. Expected to be priced at Rs. 90,000/- (ex-showroom), the Xtreme 200S will be pitted against the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and TVS Apache RTR 200. Since it is already known that the competitors are much ahead in terms of performance and equipment, how the new motorcycle will survive in the market is the big question.
