Hero has showcased the Hero Xtreme 200 S at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo. It is evident that the Indian automaker is keen to challenge the growing competition in the 200cc segment.
With the 200cc market currently gaining pace with the launch of new products by several manufacturers, Hero Motocorp is trying hard not to fall back by developing the all new Xtreme 200 S. Its finally nice to see Hero developing realistic bikes rather than distant concepts that are likely to be never launched.
The Hero Xtreme 200 S has a 200cc, single cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine producing 18.5 BHP at 8500 RPM and 17.2 Nm at 6000 RPM. The brand has once again gone with the conventional 5-speed gearbox. While many of the design cues still suggest Xtreme Sports, the front cowls by the tank and the headlamp bring in a fresh new sporty look.
Along with the above features, the Xtreme 200 S also gets a set of DRLs, monoshock suspension and optional ABS which is a first for any Hero motorcycle if launched soon enough. But here is the catch, Hero Motocorp has stated it has no intentions to launch this motorcycle any time before 2017. Pricing also remains undisclosed but it can be expected to be close to Rs. 1 lakh.
