Hero MotoCorp is slowly making progress to enter the premium segment by bringing in the XF3R.
Hero MotoCorp is a leading brand in the commuter segment but it lacks behind the others like KTM and Bajaj in the premium segment as its Karizma doesn’t attract many customers. The company seems to be planning to change that by bringing in the XF3R. Hero recently has patented the XF3R for the Indian market which shows that we are close to the launch of the bike.
When launched, the bike will compete with the likes of Bajaj Dominar 400, Mahindra Mojo and KTM Duke 390. As the name suggests, this bike uses a 300cc engine which is completely new for Hero. The concept bike was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and it definitely looked attractive.
Mechanically, the bike uses upside down forks while the tyres used here were the Pirelli Sport Demons and the bike comes with disc brakes at both ends. It isn’t clear whether the production version will get ABS or not. The motorcycle ditches the traditional twin sided typical swingarm and has a single sided unit in place of it. The handlebar of the bike looks inspired from a proper street fighter.
Recently Hero said that the engine used on the bike was a liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 4-valve unit and comes with a 6-speed gearbox. This means the engine is a performance based one but is currently under development. If priced right this bike can make the Indian buyer go crazy just like the Bajaj Dominar 400 has done right now.
