Hero MotoCorp has just showcased the Zir scooter at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Zir comes in two variants, one is an European style step through model while the other is a flat floor model. The Hero Zir is powered by a 150cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine. The motor produces 14 BHP of power and 12.7 Nm of torque. The front suspension comes with telescopic shock absorbers while the rear suspension comes with dual shock absorbers which can be adjusted in five positions. The maximum fuel tank capacity is 9.0-litres.
The Hero Zir comes with 110/90/R13 tyre size at the front and 130/70/R13 at the rear. Both the tyres are tubeless. Hero is also providing disc brakes at the front and rear. The Hero Zir comes with a 12V-6 aH battery to power all the electricals. The ground clearance is 155 mm and the length, width and height are 2085 mm, 745 mm and 1385 mm respectively. The Hero Zir weighs 139 kgs which is quite a lot by scooter standards.
Some other notable features on the Hero Zir are dual projector headlights, daytime running light, LED indicators, wind protection screen, digital instrument cluster, mobile phone integration, hydraulic braking system, integrated pillion handle and step seat. Set for launch in 2015, the Hero Zir is expected to be priced upwards of Rs. 80,000/-, positioned as a practical alternative to similarly priced motorcycles.
