Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition Launched

Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer has launched a special edition version of their high selling motorcycle Splendor, feeling the heat from its erstwhile partner Honda, who launched a new entry level motorcycle couple of days ago named Honda Dream Neo, pitched directly against the Hero Splendor. Similar response was seen by Maruti Suzuki introducing a special edition version of the DZire against the launch of Honda’s first diesel powered car priced similarly, the Amaze.

According to Hero MotoCorp, the company is celebrating the Splendor’s 20 year old existence in India by launching the Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition. The most evident change in the special edition Splendor is the shiny new golden color paintjob with ‘special edition’ stickers, rest of the bike remains unchanged featuring the same frugal 4-stroke 97.2 cc single-cylinder engine producing a peak power of 7.6 BHP at 7500 RPM with a peak torque of 8.04 Nm at 4500 RPM, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. Hero MotoCorp claims the Splendor Pro returns a class leading mileage of 79 km/l.

The Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition version comes equipped with alloy wheels and a self start mechanism. The Splendor is the best selling motorcycle in the world and is in great demand, competing with the likes of recently launched Honda Dream Neo, Bajaj Discover 100 and TVS Star City. The Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition is priced at Rs. 48,500/- (ex-showroom Delhi), which is around Rs. 1000/- more than the standard version of the Splendor Pro.
