Hero MotoCorp will be launching the Splendor Pro facelift in the coming weeks which is the first major update to the bike since its inception.
The commuter motorcycle segment has been single handedly ruled by one brand, Hero. To be more precise, it is the Splendor range of bikes which sell in huge numbers and the name has become a separate brand in itself. High sales without much efforts made Hero take it a bit easy and they never comprehensively updated the Splendor since its launch. But now with a commuter scooter taking up the top spot, the Indian bikemaker has realised the need for a facelift.
The current Splendor Pro is a slightly redesigned version of the standard Splendor and comes with a few additional features such as self start, alloy wheels and side stand indicator. However, the new version of the bike gets various changes which differentiate it further. While the mechanicals remain identical, the motorcycle gets a number of visual changes to make it look more with the times. The bike spotted at a dealership shows the changes.
The updated Hero Splendor Pro gets a new tail lamp unit and the cowl looks inspired from it sibling, the Splendor iSmart. It also gets a new tail lamp to make the rear not look too boring. Rarely seen on commuter bikes, the Splendor Pro gets recesses for the knees to make for a better riding posture. The grab rail for the passenger has been changed too and now it is a more modern looking flat silver coloured unit.
The instrument cluster gets a three-pod structure with a chrome applique above it. The Splendor Pro facelift will be powered by the same 97cc engine producing 8.36 PS of power which does duty on multiple bikes in Hero’s portfolio. However, it will be tweaked a bit to improve efficiency and performance. The expected launch of the bike is before the festive season and dealers have started receiving the stocks. Prices are likely to increase by just Rs. 200/-, with the ex-showroom cost being Rs. 46,850/-. The Splendor Pro accounts for 60% of Splendor sales.
