Hero has just launched the Splendor iSmart 110 which was showcased earlier at the 2016 Auto Expo. The bike has been priced at Rs. 53,300/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will feature an all-new 110cc single-cylinder motor.
The Splendor has been the king of commuter motorcycles in our country since its launch. Though its supremacy is now being challenged by the Activa, the Splendor remains nothing short of a household icon. Almost every person in our country has ridden a Splendor or hitched a ride on one. The Splendor is all that a commuter demands for, and then some. Practical, economical, easy to maintain and reliable. Hero now looks to take all these factors to the next level, by incorporating modern day technology with old school reliability in the iSmart.
The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 gets ‘Automatic Headlamp On’ (AHO) which makes it the only motorcycle in the commuter segment to get this feature. There is no switch to turn on the headlight and it is similar to ‘Daytime Running Lights’ (DRLs).
The iSmart features an all-new 110cc engine developed by Hero which will produce 8.9 HP of power and 9 Nm of torque. This is the second bike in Hero’s stable to get the i3S technology and also comes with torque-on-demand and Hero claims that the bike comes with class-leading fuel efficiency of 68 km/l. The technology was first introduced on the 100cc Splendor and is essentially an engine start stop function, which kills the engine when the bike comes to a stop, and starts when you twist the throttle, thus minimising fuel consumption on traffic lights.
On the deign front, the iSmart boasts of an all-new attractive design which, even though nothing special, stands out in its segment. That combined with the dual tone colour schemes will work plenty towards increase the appeal of the iSmart to a wider audience. The bike has been priced at Rs. 53,300/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) which puts it against the Yamaha Saluto RX and the TVS Victor 110.
