You read that right. Hero MotoCorp has just announced a new engine which is a 150cc TDI motor, using diesel fuel. This motor is featured in a new bike called RNT which outputs 13.5 BHP of power and wait for it, 35 Nm of torque. The company has announced four new products today. The automaker wants to expand the Hero universe. A commercial for the Splendour iSmart has been made while the updated versions of the Pleasure scooter, Xtreme, Karizma R and ZMR will go on sale in the next three months. Other products which were showcased (15 of them) are already available at dealerships. Hero says technology is their key focus.
Hero has launched the Xtreme Sport which produces 15.2 BHP of power. A new scooter called Hero Dash has been announced, it features combi-braking system and is powered by a 111cc engine. It also gets LED tail lights and service indicator. The Leap hybird scooter has been showcased as well, it uses front and rear LEDs, being powered by a lithium-ion battery.
Hero has also showcased an all new performance bike called HX250R, which produces 31 BHP of power at 9000 RPM and reaches from 0-60 km/hr in just 2.7 seconds. It features a 4-valve, 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine and an under seat exhaust. The bike uses Pirelli Sport Demon tyres.
The three products showcased today will go on sale in the next 4 quarters. Their name will be changed though. The Dash and Xtreme use Honda engines while the HX250R uses a Hero engine (launch is in next fiscal). The RNT diesel bike is 2-wheel drive! It uses an electronic motor in the front.
