Hero plans to launch its latest scooter, the Maestro by the end of this year, which is expected to drive sales to a large extent.
Currently, Hero has capacity to produce 6.4 million units every year but plans to ramp up production of scooters to 6 lakh units per annum. Hero MotoCorp has three plants across India and scooters are produced only at its Gurgaon unit. The company’s fourth plant will see the light of the day only late next year with an investment of Rs. 500 crore. This plant will add 1.5 million units to the total production of Hero MotoCorp. Scooters amount to only 5% of total Hero sales.
