Hero MotoCorp has now joined hands with its third partner. Post the break-up with Honda, India’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer was left without any technology support. In order to ensure Hero continues to top the sales chart post 2014, the company tied up with Erik Buell Racing and AVL. These two companies would aid Hero in setting up its own R&D centre along with developing new products and giving technology support. AVL would work closely with Hero engineers to develop engines for future bikes.
Now Hero MotoCorp has gone ahead and signed a deal with yet another company, making it its third partner. However Hero has not announced the name of the company yet and will do so in the near future. The company is European based and will be Hero’s design and technology partner. The unnamed company has expertise in developing 2-wheelers, including hybrid and electric bikes. Eco-friendly motorcycles could very well be the future direction of Hero MotoCorp.
Post the break-up with Honda, Hero has also got the rights to start exports of its 2-wheelers. By just being leaders in India, Hero has managed to become the world’s largest manufacturer of 2-wheelers. The company will start exports to Nigeria, Guatemala and Myanmar later this year. Currently Hero exports its motorcycles to Bangaladesh and Sri Lanka. Now can anyone guess as to which company has Hero MotoCorp tied up with, this time around?
