The world’s largest selling two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp launched its operation in Turkey today. The company in line with its objective has moved one step further to reaching 50 global markets by 2020. The Indian manufacturer has partnered with AsyaMakina, a subsidiary of the Soysal Group of Turkey for the sales and distribution of its vehicles.
Under the partnership, Hero introduced the Glamour 125cc, Thriller 150cc (Xtreme in India) motorcycles as well as the 100cc Pleasure automatic scooter. All the products are compatible with Euro 3 emission norms. Under the partnership, Hero two-wheelers will be distributed through a network of close to 50 outlets spread across the country with several new outlets to be added in the next year. The models are currently on display at the Hero-Asya stall at the ongoing Auto Show in Turkey. Hero MotoCorp is eyeing a market share of 5 percent in Turkey and plans to launch its entire lineup in the country in the future.
Hero is targeting as many as 50 global markets by the end of 2020 with over a million unit of sales from overseas markets. Hero has been expanding to other markets such Peru, Guatemala, Honduras El Salvador in South America; Kenya, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast in Africa; and Sri Lanka and Nepal in Asia. The introduction of the brand in Turkey showcases the company’s move to get closer to their long term goal. The company has started dispatching vehicles to other markets like Tanzania and Uganda and plans to set-up local assembly in the near future.
Hero showcased an all-new range of products at the recently concluded 2014 Auto Expo and brought forward the engineering prowess it has achieved courtesy of the new alliances; EBR, Engines Engineering and AVL. The company managed to sell over 6.1 million vehicles worldwide in 2013, with a recorded turnover of $4 billion.
