The Maestro Edge uses a newly developed 111cc engine and improved hardware and stands as a competitor to the Honda Activa, TVS Wego, Yamaha Ray, Suzuki Let’s, Mahindra Gusto and the likes.
Hero MotoCorp has officially launched the 2015 Maestro Edge scooter in the country and priced it from Rs. 49,500/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Indian two-wheeler giant’s all-new scooter boasts of better hardware and fresher aesthetics, in addition to the newly developed 111cc engine powering the model. The new Maestro Edge has been derived from the Dash scooter concept showcased at the Auto Expo last year and gets several segment first features differentiating it from most rivals. Sales of the scooter will begin from 13th October along with as many as 1 million test rides. The bike is offered with a 5 years warranty too. The scooter has a mileage figure of 65.8 km/l.
The 2015 Hero Maestro Edge measures 1840 mm in length, 695 mm in width and 1190 mm in height making it marginally taller and longer than the standard Maestro while the ground clearance remains the same at 155 mm. The wheelbase measures at 1265 mm while the kerb weight stands at 110 kgs. The styling from the Dash concept has been carried over on the Maestro Edge with the scooter getting sharp lines, black finished plastics and a gunmetal grey finished exhaust. The sporty appearance is further enhanced courtesy of the body coloured grab rail, LED tail lights, neatly styled dual-tone wing mirrors and 12-inch black alloy wheels.
The Hero Maestro Edge uses an analog-digital instrument cluster loaded with all essentials while the service reminder indicator is a nice touch. Some useful features on the Maestro Edge include twin position lights, digital analogue meter, European switches, twin helmet holders, side stand indicator, mobile charger slot (USB port), under seat luggage lamp and rear seat luggage fitment hook in addition to the magnet holder and sensor, external fuel filler and an engine immobiliser. Hero MotoCorp is offering the new Maestro Edge in seven trendy colour options inclusive of the black, white and silver.
In terms of mechanicals, the 2016 Hero Maestro Edge uses a newly developed 110.9cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 8.34 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 8.30 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM, paired to a CVT transmission. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and shock absorbers at the rear, while stopping power comes courtesy of drum brakes at the front and rear. That said, Hero is offering the Integrated Braking System (IBS) on the Maestro Edge for better braking control.
