The Hero Impulse wasn’t in production since a long time and has now been axed completely.
The Hero Impulse was one of the most interesting launches to come out of the house of the world’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer (by volumes). The Impulse first made its debut in August 2010 in London and was launched in India in October 2011. After the initial demand, sales weren’t favourable for the off-road bike and Hero stopped production.
Now right before the stricter BS4 emission norms come into play, Hero has removed the Impulse off its website and discontinued the motorcycle. The company isn’t upgrading the bike to meet BS4 emission norms and since a few dealers had stock, it was still kept on sale in spite of not being manufactured.
Based on the Honda NXR Bros, the Hero Impulse used a 149.2cc engine that pumped out 13.2 PS and 13.4 Nm which made it underpowered off-road. The company was long expected to launch a more powerful version of the Impulse but since it doesn’t hold the rights to this motorcycle, it couldn’t make any modifications to the Impulse as per its agreement with erstwhile partner Honda.
Hero was expected to launch a dual-sport motorcycle but the same has been delayed endlessly as the first performance bike from the company, the HX250R, is yet to go on sale, even though it was showcased more than 4 years ago, just prior to the 2014 Auto Expo.
