After the India launch of the first Hero electric scooter takes place, a second EV will make debut in the second half of 2022
Hero MotoCorp has announced that the launch of its electric scooter will take place by March 2022 in India. The company revealed this while reporting its financial performance for the second quarter (July to September 2021) of FY22.
According to Hero MotoCorp, its very first electric scooter project is in its advanced stages. The scooter will be manufactured at its ‘Garden Factory’ located at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.
Do note that this is the first official confirmation from Hero about the launch timeline of its electric scooter. In September, Chief Financial Officer of Hero MotoCorp, Niranjan Gupta, had also revealed that the e-scooter will be launched here by March next year.
Teased during Hero’s 10th anniversary celebrations in August, the all-new electric scooter will feature a sleek body with minimalist panels, a tinted flyscreen, alloy wheels, split seats and telescopic front suspension.
At present, the net battery capacity, power rating of the electric motor, and details about the size of instrument display (which should have smartphone connectivity), among other things are unknown.
Moreover, after the first Hero electric scooter India launch takes place, a second EV, developed in partnership with Taiwanese firm Gogoro, with which Hero signed a deal earlier this year to develop EVs and establish a battery-swapping joint venture in India, will also be launched in the second half of 2022.
