Hero MotoCorp has launched its third scooter, the Duet across India today. Prices start from Rs. 48,400/- (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
Unveiled a month ago along with the Hero Maestro Edge, the Hero Duet has been launched today across India. The scooter draws design inspiration from India’s largest selling scooter, the Honda Activa and is powered by a new 110.9cc engine developed by the Indian automaker themselves. To differentiate it from the rest, the company has added various nifty features to the scooter which make it a great value proposition.
Launched in two variants, the Hero Duet is priced at Rs. 48,400/- for the LX version and Rs. 49,900/- for the VX version, both prices being ex-showroom Bengaluru. At this price, it becomes a very good option for someone looking at a commuter scooter. The features that the two-wheeler gets which are rarely seen on other vehicles in the segment are:
- Telescopic front suspension
- Storage area lamp
- USB charging port inside storage area
- Rear luggage hook
While telescopic front suspension is available as standard, the other three features are not available on the LX variant which leads to the lower sticker price. The new 110.9cc engine developed in-house by Hero MotoCorp produces 8.43 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 8.3 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM which is just about adequate for the size of the scooter. The weight of the Duet stands at 116 kgs which is on the higher side and this is due to the metal body it gets.
When we rode the scooter last month, we found it pretty good in most conditions except for the time when you might have to hit open roads. The lack of power becomes evident then. Otherwise, looking at the options in the segment currently, this definitely is a better alternative. The external fuel filler cap is another addition which adds to its practicality.
