Except for the change of name, rest everything remains identical to the scooter that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
Hero will be following up the launch of its Xtreme 200R motorcycle with two new scooters that were earlier known as the Hero Duet 125 and Hero Maestro 125. But the company seems to have had a change of mind and renamed its Duet 125 scooter to Destini 125.
The 125cc scooter segment just doesn’t seem to stop having new entries in it. It happens to be the go-to segment for the younger lot who want better performance with more features like offered on the Suzuki Burgman Street and the TVS NTorq 125. The Hero Destini 125 too won’t be any different.
The Hero Destini 125 will feature an auto headlamp, LED tail light, Hero’s i3S start/stop technology to save fuel while waiting at traffic signals, external fuel inlet, mobile charging port, analogue-digital instrument cluster and 90/100/10 section tyres at the front and rear. The rims will be blacked out for that sporty appeal.
Powering the Hero Destini 125 will be a 124.6cc engine good for producing 8.7 HP at 6750 RPM and 10.2 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM. Hero claims to have given this engine a peppy low-end for good rideability in traffic conditions. The scooter tips the scale at 111.5 kgs (kerb weight) which places it in between the TVS NTorq 125 and the Suzuki Burgman Street in terms of weight.
Hero, however, won’t be providing a disc brake as standard on the Destini 125. There will be drum brakes at the front and the rear. Although there might be an IBS (integrated braking system) which is same as CBS (combined braking system) that divides the rider’s action of depressing one of the brake levers into both the brakes.
On the visual front, the Hero Destini 125 has vertically flowing turn indicator lights dawned by a chrome plate underneath them. This might remind you of the Honda Activa 125 which also happens to be its competitor. The handlebar is conventional with a headlight placed in the centre. The seat will be well cushioned and could easily accommodate two people.
The change of name of the Hero Destini 125 from Hero Duet 125 might have been done to give the scooter a name refresh as the company already has a 110cc scooter named the Duet on sale in the market. The launch of the Destini 125 is expected next month and will be accompanied by the Hero Maestro 125 scooter.
