The Hero Dash 110 scooter could be called Specter and will be available in two variants equipped with phone charging facility and an external fuel filler.
Hero MotoCorp dominates the motorcycle market in the country and the company is now looking forward to capturing the booming automatic scooter segment as well. Having shown a slew of products at the Auto Expo last year, the company is now readying up to launch the Dash 110cc scooter this year and it was recently caught testing with minimal camouflage. The report also suggests that the Dash scooter’s production codename is ‘AAWA’ and would most likely be called as ‘Specter’ when launched. The other possible name is ‘Duet’.
Hero has retained the striking and edgy lines on the production spec Dash/Specter from the concept version last year and will appeal to the male buyers it is targeted at. The scooter gets an analog speedometer with a digital information display and will be available in two variants – LX and VX. The former will be available with a dual tone paint job and steel rims while the VX trim will be equipped with a three-tone colour option and black alloy wheels for a sportier look. The cosmetics will be finished with dual-tone rear mirrors, grey exhaust cover and will also feature a front storage box and phone charging facility on the VX variant.
In terms of power, the 111cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor on the Hero Specter will produce 8.56 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5750 RPM, paired to a CVT transmission and has a kerb weight of 110 kgs. Hero will also equip the Dash/Specter scooter with Integrated Braking System (IBS) that is similar to Honda’s Combi Braking System (CBS). The scooter though will come with drum brakes at the front and rear, missing out on disc brakes completely. The report also suggests that Hero is opting for plastic/GFRP body panels instead of steel as believed earlier.
Hero MotoCorp is ensuring to make the Dash/Specter scooter as a well-loaded proposition and it will also get a side stand indicator, service reminder, external fuel filler and tubeless tyres while competing against the likes of the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Let’s and the likes in the segment. Expect a price tag of around Rs. 55,000/- (ex-showroom) when the scooter hits the showrooms later this year.
