Hero MotoCorp showcased the reason why the company is the best selling 2-wheeler manufacturer in the country with a slew of products and concepts highlighting its prowess and how it has come out of the shadows of Honda. The two-wheeler manufacturer is betting big on the growing scooter market in the country and will launch two new products in the market by 2015. Hero will enter the 125cc automatic scooter market with the Dare 125 by the end of this year. The scooter has an imposing stance with pronounced body lines and a bold front facia. Visually, the Hero Dare 125 locks horns with the Yamaha Ray Z, Honda Dio and Aviator with the front headlight cluster. The automatic scooter also gets daytime running lights and an LED tail light.
The Hero Dare is powered by a 124.8cc 4-stroke engine that produces 9.38 BHP of power and 9.8 Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT transmission. The scooter gets a lot of equipment as well which includes telescopic front forks, dual-tone alloys, digital instrument console, body-painted brake callipers and sports a dual-tone colour scheme. The scooter weighs 114 kgs and with its sporty appeal will be targeted towards male buyers. The Dare 125 will be competing against the Suzuki Access, Honda Activa 125, Mahindra Rodeo and Piaggio Vespa.
The second scooter that will be launched in 2015 will be the Zir 150 in the 150cc segment. One glance at the scooter and it will remind you of the Kinetic Blaze 165 that was sold almost a decade ago. The Zir 150 has brawny looks with dual headlight units with projector lamps in the front and sporty lines running around the side profile of the scooter. The maxi-scooter is powered by a 157cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 14 BHP of power and 12.7 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and the top speed is 110 km/hr.
The Hero Zir 150 will be equipped with daytime running lights, LED indicators and tail light unit, twin hydraulic disc brakes, a mobile charging point, integrated pillion handle and will be riding on 13-inch tubeless tyres. The front suspension gets telescopic shocks absorbers, while the rear suspension gets 5-position adjustable dual shock absorbers. Measuring at 2085 mm in length, 745 mm in width and 1385 mm in height with a weight of 139 kgs; it will be hard to miss one of these go past you on the streets. The Zir scooter will also be the most powerful in the country when launched.
