Here’s How Jeep’s Grand Commander (7-Seat Compass) Will Look Like In The Flesh

It is a premium SUV which can seat up to 7 people

Meet the Jeep Grand Commander, the 7-seat version of the Compass, which will be put on sale in India before the end of the first quarter of the next fiscal year.

These images of the finished article were filed with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and show the changes Jeep has done to the Compass to make the Grand Commander.

Code-named H6, the Jeep Grand Commander takes design inspiration from the Grand Cherokee L, but, front the front at least is still recognisably a Jeep Compass.

However, the bumper is new, the headlights have been restyled, the fog lamps repositioned, while the grille looks similar to the unit on the bigger SUV from the brand.

Along the sides, the Jeep Grand Commander has longer rear doors, larger greenhouse and new wheels apart from model-specific badging.

At the back, the 7-seat SUV does not resemble the compass one bit. It has a more upright rear profile with a flatter surface overall.

The tailgate is new and it has a larger windscreen, the stop lights are new, and so is the bumper which comes with a skid plate and twin exhaust outlets, and, yes, there is a roof spoiler too.

Overall, the SUV looks upmarket and provided that the additional 2 seats are usable, it will also make for a practical vehicle. No interior image is available as of now, but the car should come with a very similar cabin to that of the Compass.

Expect Jeep to also offer a 6-seat version of the SUV when it puts the model on sale and, as is the case with modern vehicles, the Grand Commander will come with a myriad of features.

In India, the SUV will come powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which is likely to put out close to 200 HP. It will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic, while 4-wheel-drive will be offered as well.

The SUV will command a premium over the Compass
