The American company, Hennessey Performance, have recently announced their latest offering, the Venom GT2. This car is still under development and most likely be launched in late 2013. This car is a sequel to the already extreme Venom GT supercar that caused quite a stir in the international automotive scene. This car was based on light, agile Lotus underpinnings but was given a massive V8 to produce 1200 HP of power. But this latest version will boast of 1500 HP.
This massive amount of power is achieved using a 7.0-litre V8 engine with twin-turbo charging. The weight of the car too will be quite less, just about 1500 kgs. Thus this car will boast an incredible power to weight ratio of 1000 HP/tonne. This should give the Venom truly intoxicating performance. The Hennessey Venom GT2 will also have a 7-speed paddle-shift transmission. The engineers have made the car more aerodynamic as well as added a double-bubble roof to improve head room.
Hennessey recently announced that they will not stop production of the Venom GT and sell both the GT and the GT2 alongside. The GT2 will cost about Rs. 6.93 crorel The seven-speed paddle-shift transmission will be a mind boggling Rs. 91.41 lakh option. So the Venom GT2, the ultimate rich boy’s toy, will be quite a special car to drive! Will this super car beat the Bugatti Veyron in terms of outright acceleration is something we are unsure off, as putting down all that power is the real challenge for the company.
