Great Wall has filed the trademark application for the Haval Jolion moniker in India, as its plan to enter the country is back on track.
Expected to be the first offering from the Chinese auto major for India, the SUV, which is based on Haval’s new modular platform measures close to 4.5 metres long, is 1.8 metre wide and 1.6 metre tall.
The Haval Jolion comes with styling that does not offend. Be it the hexagonal mesh grille, LED headlights with T-shaped DRLs that extend into the bumper, curvy side profile with a character line or the Volvo-esque rear profile, the car has a good design.
Inside, the Jolion has ample space thanks to its 2700 mm wheelbase, while sporting a contemporary cabin with a multifunction steering wheel having paddle shifters, rotary shift dial and electronic parking brake.
Customers can buy the car overseas with features such as 7-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charger, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and many other features.
A 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 147 HP and 210 Nm powers the car. It comes mated to a 7-speed DCT and the driver has 4 driving modes – Eco, Standard, Sport and Snowfield – to choose from.
What’s more, the SUV will come with new age safety tech such as autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, active cruise control and more.
With the Haval Jolion trademark uncovered, test mules of the SUV could soon be spotted on Indian roads. Expect the car to hit the market sometime this year or early next year and be positioned close to the MG Hector.
