The customized Street 750 cruisers will be used primarily for escort of senior ministers and visiting dignitaries as well as emergency response as part of a natural disaster response team.
Late last year, we reported of the Gujarat Police is planning to add high performance motorcycles to its stable and was also accepting proposals and quotations for the same. A little over five months since then, dealer ‘Nine Bridges Harley-Davidson’ has delivered six Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycles that have been specially customized for the Gujarat Police Department. It is for the first time that a police department in the country has chosen high capacity motorcycles for specialized use.
Differentiating the police spec Harley Street 750 motorcycles are a number of additions including the all-white paint job with red and blue stripes and “Police” badging, orange and blue warning lights, a large visor, luggage box and police siren. The bike gets no mechanical changes as such and power continues to come from the same 749cc liquid-cooled, V-Twin engine tuned to produce 58 HP and 60 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is capable of doing 0-100 km/hr 6.17 seconds and hits a top whack of 178 km/hr.
This new Revolution X engine has been designed for urban riding and offers healthy performance in the city and highways. Braking performance on the Street 750 could be better though. If you are reading this in Gujarat and were expecting to spot the Harleys during patrolling, we are sorry to disappoint you. The high capacity cruisers will be used for limited purposes including quick response actions like escort of senior ministers and visiting dignitaries as well as emergency response as part of a natural disaster response team, among others. We expect more deliveries to take place in the following months.
