Harley-Davidson will launch the Street 750 motorcycle at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. The Street 750 is an all new motorcycle targeted at urban consumers. The American automaker has unveiled the bike for the first time in India at the biking festival, India Bike Week. After having a glimpse of the motorcycle in person, we do admit this bike will sell in good volumes as everything seems in line with Harley-Davidson’s philosophy. The Harley-Davidson Street 750 will be priced in India at under Rs. 5 lakhs (on-road), which sure is aggressive pricing.
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 uses a 749cc, V-Twin engine which employs liquid-cooling and is dubbed as the Revolution X motor. This powerplant is expected to produce around 40 BHP of power and 50 Nm of torque, although the figures haven’t been revealed officially. Coupled to this mill is a 6-speed gearbox. The American automaker is manufacturing the Street 750 in India, which plays a vital role in pricing the bike within reach of many prospective buyers.
Like every Harley-Davidson machine, the Street 750 also uses a belt drive. The motorcycle uses disc brakes at both ends with a single calliper. The front uses a 17-inch wheel while the rear makes do with a 15-incher. The Street 750 weighs 218 kgs while the Street 500 is lighter at around 182 kgs. The Street 500 will be launched in India in 2015 although production of both the Street bikes will start simultaneously next month. Local sourcing along with high local content has enabled the cult brand in achieving an aggressive price point.
