Harley-Davidson pulled a surprise on everyone by pricing its latest offering at Rs. 4.1 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The American automaker had promised the bike would retail under Rs. 5 lakhs (on-road) and has lived up to its words. In fact the pricing is so mouth watering that a few people from the MotorBeam team even had thoughts of acquiring this cruiser. Harley-Davidson has been able to achieve this price point for the Street 750 thanks to the aggressive localisation it has done. The bike is entirely manufactured in India and uses heavy local content with the tyres being provided by MRF.
When we saw the Street 750 for the first time, we did not like it much but the styling grows on you with time. The Milwaukee headquartered company showcased an accessorised version of the Street 750 at the Auto Expo which looks really stunning. You can buy individual parts for your Street 750 from the 13 Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country. The accessories include a long windshield visor which does transform the frontal appeal of the bike. Other parts for the Street 750 showcased on the display bike includes bigger foot pegs, thicker seat (with better padding), tank bag, tail bag, etc.
The company also offers many performance parts for the bike (performance filters and exhausts) and we are told the pricing of after market products will be in line with the cost of the bike. You can also customise the appearance of your Street 750 by opting for custom paint jobs, different wheels, etc. The Harley-Davidson Street 750 is powered by a 749cc, V-twin engine which outputs a juicy 65 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. Our estimates peg the power output to be 47 BHP, which along with the 218 kgs weight is going to make this cruiser motorcycle a slick mover both in the city and out on the highways.
