Harley-Davidson VR1000 inspired faired sports bike under making.
Harley-Davidson is foraying into new segments of late. First they entered the lower capacity 500-750cc segment with the Street models. Then they introduced their first electric bike LiveWire. Now, they are preparing to launch a faired sports bike inspired by the 1990s VR1000 motorcycle.
The design patent of the nose fairing has been published which gives us a hint of the design direction of the new faired sports bike. It is very similar to the VR1000 and is heavily inspired by the same. The nose shape and headlight position is very similar to the old bike.
It is likely to get LED headlight unit with DRL for a modern yet retro look. The American bikemaker is also developing a streetfighter motorcycle and the faired sports bike is likely to share most of the elements from the same.
Harley-Davidson is considering a massive onslaught of bikes in the near future that will get powered by a range of engines. It will be using the Revolution X liquid cooled 500-750cc engines and up to 1200cc air-cooled engines in the future products.
We might see the concept versions of the faired and streetfighter motorcycles soon from Harley-Davidson. However, the introduction of production versions might take a couple of years from now.
