Both the bikes will be based on a new 500cc to 1250cc middleweight modular platform of motorcycles.
Harley-Davidson has for the first time ever, announced its future plans in detail. The company is betting big on the Asian markets for which it has announced a 250cc to 500cc motorcycle. Another interesting announcements are the adventure and streetfighter motorcycles that the company will launch in the year 2020.
Harley-Davidson has named its adventure motorcycle, Pan America 1250. This will be the first such bike from a company which has traditionally made only cruiser motorcycles. The Pan America 1250 will be powered by a 1250cc engine. Images suggest that it will come with a high set windshield and wire spoke wheels. An under-belly protection too is a must if the bike has to go off-roading. No technical or feature specifications are yet known as the bike is still a prototype and is in development phase.
Other motorcycle that caught our attention is the 975cc streetfighter model. It will feature a 975cc, 60-degree, V-twin engine. The upright handlebars will provide for a comfortable riding position for the rider. Other details of the bike are non-existent as it too is undergoing development.
The Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 and 975cc Streetfighter are based on a new 500cc to 1250cc middleweight modular platform that will also provide for other future motorcycles from Harley-Davidson. The modularity factor helps in reducing the cost of development. The company has planned to use it for producing bikes across three different product spaces and four different displacements.
Come 2020, and the world will see Harley-Davidson introduce products with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Though the company has mastered the art of producing high quality cruiser bikes, its entry into the adventure segment is valiant. The modular platform will be generating more bikes by the year 2022. We, as of now, can’t wait for 2020 to come as that is when the iconic bike manufacturer will start infusing the market with its new motorcycles.
