FAW Haima Automobile, the Chinese automotive manufacturer, has announced its plan to enter in the Indian automobile market. For its Indian operations, the company will collaborate with Bird Automotive, which is also an authorized partner for BMW and Mini. It is also a distributor of Segway personal transporters.
Haima Automobile originally sold rebadged Mazda models in China before eventually been taken over by Chinese state-owned First Automobile Works, now known as the FAW Group. The carmaker has developed an MPV, 7X, based on its Haima Global Architecture platform (HMGA).
Haima Automobile revealed the 7X at the 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show in China. The 7X is 7-seater MPV powered by a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine producing 193 HP and 293 Nm of torque, and it’s mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The same engine is also used in the Haima 8S SUV which clocks 0-100 kmph in under 8 seconds.
The Haima 7X sports a Maserati-esque grille. In terms of dimension, the 7X is larger than the Toyota Innova Crysta. It is expected to come with a large touchscreen and connected car feature among others.
