The Gugu R-SUV looks like a maxi-scooter with the silhouette of an adventure motorcycle.
Coimbatore based start-up company Gugu Energy have officially revealed their R-SUV electric motorcycle. With the future of electric vehicles shaping up in the country, companies have started making and developing interesting concepts for India. The R-SUV electric motorcycle looks like an adventure scooter. The front end has a beak style design, making it resemble with adventure motorcycles. It gets a windscreen for wind blast protection at highway speeds. The motorcycle also offers 28-litres of storage space.
Coming to the maxi-scooter inspired design of the R-SUV, it gets a fully digital, 5-inch touchscreen instrument console. It will offer ride related information along with maps, navigation and real-time traffic updates, battery levels, range and vehicle diagnostics. Updates on the Gugu R-SUV will be done over the air (OTA) and the mobile application shows the rider all the nearby charging locations and complete vehicle information. The Advanced Navigation of the R-SUV tracks the daily commute routes and suggests alternates in case of heavy traffic.
Moving on, the Gugu R-SUV gets a single-piece handlebar with off-road style knuckle guards. The headlight and the taillight are protected with metal grills which also accentuate the rugged adventure look of the motorcycle. The saddle features a step-up design along with a dual-tone finish. The headlight, tail light and indicators are expected to be LED. Suspension duties are performed by USD forks at the front and an adjustable pro-link suspension in the rear. Braking is carried on by disc brakes at both ends with ABS as a standard offering.
The Gugu R-SUV gets wire-spoke wheels with a 17-inch front dual-purpose tyre and a 15-inch rear tyre. The Gugu R-SUV is powered by a 6 kWh, liquid-cooled battery pack and an electric motor which delivers 65 Nm of peak torque. The company claims a 0-100 km/hr time of only 5.7 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 100 km/hr. The range of the R-SUV is said to be over 100 miles which translates to a little over 160 kms. It can be charged using any Gugu ultra-fast charger from 0-80 percent in 30 minutes.
