Google has launched lane guidance feature in Google Maps for India that helps in avoiding traffic. Hindi voice guidance has also been introduced.
Google Maps is the most accessible and sought after navigation system available yet. It has given many expensive GPS navigation gadgets a run for their money. Solid network, simple user interface and the fact that it’s downloadable for free makes it one of the most popular apps on every platform. Google has now introduced a new lane guidance feature in India for Google Maps on iOS and Android. This feature gives voice-guided and visual instructions to the user about the alternate lane they should take to avoid traffic.
The new lane guidance system on Google Maps not only adds to the convenience but also helps in avoiding sudden turns by recommending the correct lane to stick to before the turn comes. It also displays the number of lanes on the road on which you are traveling. If you think that the number of lanes displayed on Google Maps is incorrect or is giving wrong directions then you can report the issue straight away by clicking on the dialogue box, which comes after tapping once.
Users can now opt for turn-by-turn voice guidance in Hindi. The option of choosing English voice navigation in Indian accent is also available. Google had already introduced Hindi text for maps last year to reach a wider section of the audience. The Google Maps lane guidance feature has been introduced for 20 cities including Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Nagpur, Lucknow, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Surat, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam.
