The US based largest auto manufacturer of the world, General Motors has its presence in India under the Chevrolet brand. The Chevrolet models have been doing quite well in the small car and the sedan segment in recent times but the company doesn’t have a very strong presence when it comes to SUVs. Chevrolet, deciding to bring some spice into this segment has come out with its all new mid-sized SUV, the TrailBlazer. The TrailBlazer made its global debut at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show. GM announced at that time that the TrailBlazer would be a global model beginning with Thailand in early 2012.
Since it is coming to Thailand, we are absolutely sure about its near future launch in the Indian market too. The TrailBlazer is a 7 seater SUV with a body-on-frame type chassis. Though the images that you see here are of the concept model unveiled at the Motor Show, but the company has specifically commented that the actual production version of the TrailBlazer will be very similar to the concept model. If that is so, then GM will be adding a great product to their portfolio (in terms of styling). The TrailBlazer is expected to be powered by a 2.8 litre Duramax engine that produces 180 BHP of power and 47.8 kgm of torque while a 2.5 litre diesel engine will also be offered that will produce 150 BHP of power.
The TrailBlazer is going to be quite attractive from the interior too with expectation of sporting more space than its competitors, the Fortuner and the Endeavour. Other features include auxiliary power plug with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, An overhead console that integrates the HVAC system with onboard infotainment, Second row 60/40 split seats with single latch forward gravity tumble, fold-flat capability, and six-degree seat-back reclining along with integrated folding armrests with cup holders and Third row 50/50 split seats with center console storage and fold-flat capability. The TrailBlazer is going to assembled at the company’s Halol plant and will be sold at an expected price of Rs. 17 lakhs.
