The football fever has engulfed everyone in its path and this time round it is none other than American brand Chevrolet celebrating the sport. General Motors has launched the Beat and Sail U-VA Manchester United Editions in India, sporting the iconic football club’s livery all across the hatchbacks. The Manchester United special edition models are launched at a premium of Rs. 69,000/- and are based on the LS variant. The event coincides with the official unveiling of the new team jersey.
Being the official automotive sponsor of the club, Chevrolet has introduced the special edition Beat and Sail U-VA all wrapped in the club’s theme along with several other tweaks for a sporty look. The cars are done up in Manchester United’s distinctive red livery (Super Red in Chevrolet speak), coupled with stylish decals and the club’s signature imprinted on the front hood, rear door and fender as well as ORVMs. The roof panel is done up in gloss black and gets contrasting red coloured roof rails. The car also gets stylish new alloy wheels that complete the exterior look of the special edition model.
Step inside and the football love only continues. The Beat gets special seats done up in red leather seat covers complimenting the theme outside, while the Sail U-VA gets the Manchester United signature embroidered into the black leather seats. The dashboard and door trims also get red inserts to complete the Man Utd look inside the cabin. The special edition models also get leather wrapped steering wheel, illuminated LED scuff plates, 2-DIN audio system and Bluetooth connectivity as well as reverse parking sensors as part of the features list.
Being special edition models, both the models get no changes under the hood. The Beat is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 81 PS of power and 108 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant is powered by a 1.0-litre engine producing 59 PS and 150 Nm of torque. The Sail U-VA on the other hand gets a 1.2-litre petrol motor producing 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque as well as a 1.3-litre diesel unit producing 78 PS and 205 Nm of torque. Both the models come with a 5-speed manual transmission. The special edition models were first displayed at the Auto Expo, earlier this year.
