Garware Motors plans to launch more motorcycles in India as it sees tough competition from Bajaj Auto who recently stole its thunder by launching the Kawasaki Ninja 650R at a more competitive price. The Pune based company is planning to get three machines from the Hyosung stable, which would all have lower capacity then the current Hyosung bikes on sale India. The possible bikes to make it to go on sale would be the Hyosung GT250R and the a 400cc machine. These bikes will be launched in India in 2012 and would be locally assembled at the firm’s facility in Pune.
The Garware Motors assembly plant has an installed capacity of 8-10 bikes a day. This could be expanded as per requirements. The company has invested Rs. 22 crores for this facility and is looking at sourcing components locally. The engine will continue to be brought from abroad. Garware Motors also plans to expand their dealership reach by opening new showrooms in Mahrashtra, Punjab, Hyderabad and Haryana.
