Renault India has confirmed that they will be launching the Duster Crossover in June 2012. The French automaker will be offering the Renault Duster in 5 variants and will offer lot of equipment on the vehicle. The Duster’s arrival will be at the right time and will help the company take the first mover advantage before the Ford EcoSport arrives by October. Neither the Duster nor the EcoSport are sub 4-metre in length and thus none of the compacy SUV’s will benefit from lower excise duties. The Renault Duster was officially unveiled at the 11th Delhi Auto Expo and is expected to be priced between Rs. 8-10 lakhs. These price estimates are subject to change, based on the new Government policy on diesel vehicles.
The Renault Duster will be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 108 PS of power and a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 106 PS of power. The front grille is made of chrome and the Duster features twin barrel headlamps along with front fog lamps. The wheels are 16-inch alloys and the Duster will be available with safety equipment including ABS, Brake Assist, EBD, dual front airbags, keyless entry, rear defogger, rear wiper, rear parking sensors, etc. The top end variant of the Duster will also get leather upholstery, while the entertainment system will consist of a 4-speaker system with USB, Aux, Bluetooth connectivity and satellite audio system with phone control. Electrically operated rear view mirrors will be offered on select variants and the Duster offers a boot capacity of 475 litres.
