Tata To Build Safe Cars As Per Global NCAP Standards

Tata Motors plans to build cars that achieve 5-star Global NCAP rating and exceed the minimum Indian safety rating.

The company claims that in the future it will set the benchmarks on design, safety, etc.

The Nexon is the first Tata product to have gained a 5-star Global NCAP rating and now the company is positive about producing all its future cars with top safety levels. The automobile manufacturer has vowed not to just build a car that attains a 5-star Global NCAP rating, but also to build cars that exceed the country’s minimum safety ratings.

Over the last 3 years, the company has raised its share in India to almost 7% and will now rely on its new generation architectures ALFA and OMEGA which will form the basis of over a dozen products in the coming 3-5 years. The company has stated that if there is a star, they’d like to have 5 of them and that’s the new normal at Tata Motors.

Tata has unveiled 4 new products at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Buzzard SUV, the Altroz premium hatchback, the Altroz electric vehicle and the H2X small SUV. All these vehicles are expected to have a Global NCAP safety rating of 5-stars. These models are based on modern modular architectures which should be able to meet the offset frontal crash regulations that will be enforced from October 2019.

The vehicles will be equipped with active and passive safety features that include Electronic Stability Program, airbags, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX child seat mounts and reverse parking camera amongst a host of other features that are usually seen in higher-priced cars.
