Ford Sanand Plant at Gujarat has rolled out 1 lakh cars and it was the Figo hatchback that had come out during the milestone number.
Ford has 2 manufacturing facilities in India, one in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and the other in Sanand, Gujarat. The Sanand plant started operations in March 2015 and within a period of 1.5 years, the plant has already rolled out 1 lakh vehicles. The 1,00,000th car to be manufactured at the plant was a Ford Figo hatchback.
The Sanand plant is used by Ford to manufacture the Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire compact sedan. The company produces the EcoSport and Endeavour at the Chennai plant. The American automaker invested $1 Billion for the Sanand plant.
The cars produced at the Sanand plant cater to local demand and they are also exported to 25 other markets across the globe which includes Europe, Africa, Middle-East and some other parts of ASEAN. The plant is spread over an area of 460 acres. It has 2500 employees and a production capacity of 2.4 lakh vehicles and 2.7 lakh engines.
