You read it first on MotorBeam. Ford officially unveiled pictures of the 2015 Ka and Ka+ a couple of weeks back. The new Ka is set to enter India as the Figo replacement while the Ka+ will be the Figo sedan. While the Ka and Ka+ will start selling in Brazil very soon, these vehicles will be launched in India only in 2015. Now it has been learnt from our sources that Ford India will manufacture the 2015 Figo and Figo sedan at its upcoming facility in Sanand. Ford India has also imported 50 body shells and parts of the next gen Figo and Figo sedan for testing purposes.
The 2015 Ford Figo will come with the beautiful Aston Martin-inspired grille in a honeycomb finish. The headlights come in a striking design and smoked accents. The styling elements on the side profile and rear of the vehicle have been retained from the concept. While the Brazilian version of the new Figo gets a 1.0-litre ECOnetic engine that runs on petrol and ethanol, it is likely that Ford will offer the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, sans the turbo. For the diesel variants, we can expect the same 1.5-litre unit from the Fiesta in a lower state of tune. Production of the new Figo will begin in March 2015.
The Ford Ka+ is basically the Figo sedan and it carries similar styling at the front. The honeycomb grille gets replaced by one that gets horizontal slats. Other design elements remain the same and while the hatchback has a sporty look, the sedan is very mature looking. The dashboard of the Figo sedan is inspired from the EcoSport and Fiesta but it will come with some changes. Engines on offer will be the same as the Figo but we can expect Ford to offer the 1.0-litre EcoBoost unit (with a turbo) on the top variants of both the Figo and Figo sedan.
