Ford Planning Made In India Affordable EV, New Endeavour Launch

Ford Everest (Endeavour) Spotted India

Ford planning to launch affordable made in India electric vehicle

Ford is preparing a big comeback in the Indian market with a bunch of products including new affordable made in India EV platform along with some global heroes like the Endeavour (Everest) SUV and Ranger pickup truck.

Until now all these are speculations and rumours but they are getting stronger with each passing day. We were the first to report about Ford registering new generation Endeavour patent in India. It was followed by the sighting of job openings on LinkedIn and then finally we saw the new Endeavour and Ranger undisguised on flat bed trucks in India.

Recently, Ford Motor Company’s president, International Markets Group, Kay Hart, visited our country to assess the situation in the market for their comeback. He is in talks with the Tamil Nadu state officials for the company’s plans regarding the Maraimalai Nagar factory on the outskirts of Chennai. Ford had put off plans of selling the factory few months back to make a comeback.

Ford is considering to localise electric vehicle platforms in India for the domestic market as well as exports. Ford engineers have been working on a new platform for affordable electric cars for two years. The new electric vehicles are likely to be produced in the Chennai plant.

Meanwhile, the Endeavour is expected to be assembled locally via the CKD route and the Mustang Mach-E will be imported directly as a CBU. The manufacturing of EVs will allow Ford to enjoy the benefits of the new EV policy made in India. This will help them access the 15 percent duty for importing the Mustang Mach-E.
