Ford Mustang Mach-E is the American carmaker’s new electric pony car.
The Ford Mustang is an iconic car which is known as a muscle car and has a huge fan following thanks to its 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine. Now who would think that a Mustang badged car will go electric? This is reality now and Ford has revealed their all-electric Mustang Mach-E crossover.
After teasing it since a long while and many leaks on the web, the Mustang Mach-E has officially shown its face. The exterior has typical Mustang elements but with a crossover silhouette.
The front profile comes with a sharp LED head light setup and a huge faux grille that boasts the pony badge. The side profile somehow has the Tesla Model X silhouette to it, while the rear is unmistakably Mustang thanks to the three-slat tail lights.
The interior looks fresh and modern. The colours used makes it look sporty enough to hold the Mustang badge. However, the elephant in the room is the huge 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It has a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster as well.
Some of the features include 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, heated front seats and alloy pedals.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The electric crossover will be available in 5 variants with varying power and performance figures.
The entry-level Select grade is priced at $43,895 (Rs. 31.47 lakhs). It comes with a 75.7 kWh battery pack and gets 255 HP with 414 Nm of torque. The AWD variant comes with 565 Nm torque. The RWD variant has a range of 370 km and does 0-100 km/hr in low 6 second range. The AWD trim has a 0-100 km/hr timing of mid 5 seconds and a range of 338 km.
The range topping Mach-E GT grade is priced at $60,500 (Rs. 43.37 lakhs). It will deliver around 459 HP and 830 Nm of torque. It will have all-wheel drive and a 98.8 kWh battery. 378 km driving range with 0-100 km/hr timing of mid 3 seconds.
Ford has started accepting orders for the Mustang Mach-E but deliveries will commence later next year and some grades will be delivered by 2021.
