After revealing the production version of the Ka+ aka Figo sedan earlier this week, Ford Brazil has officially revealed the Ka+ sedan on the internet. Showcased as the Figo Concept in India ahead of the Auto Expo, earlier this year; the Ka+ sedan will be first launched in the Brazilian market followed by the Indian launch in 2015. While India gets the sub 4-metre version, the Brazil spec Figo sedan will be a tad bit longer than 4 metres.
The production version of the Ford Ka+ sedan is identical to the Ka hatchback. The front however sports a major change with the grille. The sedan retains the chrome induced grille with horizontal slats from the concept, while the hatchback gets a black honeycomb mesh unit. The LED DRLs on the bumper have been replaced by conventional fog lamps. The side and rear profile are same as the concept and sport minimal changes.
The dashboard on the Ford Ka+ looks fresh, while the centre console takes inspiration from the Fiesta. The sedan will come with a host of connectivity options including Bluetooth, USB, AUX and also gets steering mounted controls. The Indian version is expected to get a similar setup along with an array of features. The safety features have not been announced yet, but expect to see dual front airbags and ABS to be available on the top variants.
The Ka+ sedan shares its powertrain with the Ka hatchback and gets the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder flex-fuel engine that produces 85 HP and 105 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The top end variants of the Ka sedan and hatchback will be powered by the 1.5-litre flex-fuel motor from the Fiesta that produces 110 HP and 147 Nm of torque. The Indian version could get the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engines in a de-tuned state.
Ford Brazil will be manufacturing the Ka+ sedan at the company’s plant located in Camaçari, Bahia. While the launch for the Ka hatchback is scheduled in July, the Ka+ sedan will be launched in August in Brazil and will be competing against the Renault Logan, Chevrolet Prisma and the Volkswagen Voyage in the segment. In India, the Figo sedan will be pitted against rivals Maruti DZire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the likes. The compact sedan will replace the Ford Classic in the segment.
