The 2016 Ford Ka+ or the Figo as we know it, is manufactured at the company’s Sanand plant and is expected to be exported to foreign countries in left hand drive configuration.
Ford is being appreciated by all the car critics for the new Figo and Figo Aspire compact sedan as it offers the best-in-class performance with best-in-class safety. A left hand drive version of the 2016 Figo badged as Ka+ was recently spied testing by MotorBeam reader Harshal Kothari on National Expressway-1 between Ahmedabad and Baroda which is near the company’s Sanand facility in Gujarat.
This indicates that Ford is likely to export the 2016 Figo to foreign counties where it is known as the Ka+ and the manufacturer will produce these left hand drive vehicles at the production facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The spotted vehicle was accompanied by two right hand drive cars also named as Ka+ and all the three had red license plates which means all of them were being tested.
The right hand drive variants point towards the possibility of there being a variant different from the Indian model to be exported to right hand drive countries. However, the engine options and overall fit and finish of the export models are expected to be the same as the Indian model.
The India spec Ford Figo is offered with a 1.2-litre, Ti-VCT petrol engine that produces 88 PS and 112 Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre TDCi, diesel engine produces 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque, there is also a 1.5-litre petrol with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. The international models are expected to be powered by same engines with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine likely to be offered.
The new Ford Figo is also performing well on the sales chart while a major part of the American manufacturer’s future plans depend upon this car and exports are expected to help even further as the Ka+ hatchback and sedan have a good following in the global markets.
