A crossover variant based on the Ford Figo has been spotted in India recently.
Almost every manufacturer who offers premium hatchbacks in India has also launched a crossover version of their hatchback. These pseudo crossovers come with some cosmetic changes and get body cladding along with newer alloy wheels, while all the mechanicals remain completely unchanged. Ford is now going to enter this party with the Figo crossover.
The Ford Figo crossover has been spotted at a dealer stockyard and the test mule is heavily camouflaged. However, noticeable changes on the Figo crossover are the roof-rails, differently styled multi-spoke alloy wheels and of course the black cladding around the front & rear bumpers, sides, and wheel arches. Mechanicals are likely to remain unchanged.
Ford is also expected to launch a facelifted version of the Figo, most probably at the 2018 Auto Expo. The hatchback is expected to get minor cosmetic tweaks to the exterior as well as the interior. Interior tweaks include a new SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Ford Figo facelift is also expected to be powered by a new 1.2-litre Dragon series petrol engine which is expected to debut in the Ford EcoSport facelift.
The launch timeframe of the Figo crossover isn’t clear yet. It could either be launched towards the end of this year, or it might make its way directly with the facelifted Figo in 2018.
