Ford Figo Crossover Details Leaked, Could Be Named Freestyle

Prior to the upcoming official launch, Ford Figo Crossover details related to the changed aspects have leaked.

The Figo Crossover gets redesigned lights, bonnet and bumpers

It’s 2018 already and Ford could be launching the Figo Crossover in the Indian market anytime soon. The Figo Crossover is a pseudo-SUV based on the Figo hatchback which will be pitted against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross and Hyundai i20 Active. An automotive portal has spilled the beans ahead of its launch and a lot of details have been revealed. It is being speculated that the car could be named the Ford Freestyle.

Spy shots of the car have been surfacing on the internet time and again which revealed some styling bits such as the alloy wheels, roof rails, revised bumpers, blacked-out ORVMs and body cladding. Reportedly, the Figo Crossover will get a 15 mm increase in ground clearance over the Figo hatchback’s 170 mm. The car rides on 185/60/15 tyres which are wider than the regular hatchback but narrower than the Figo S.

Apart from a revamped cabin, the car will get an 8-inch Ford Sync 3-enabled touchscreen unit on the top-spec variant, which will also be equipped with 6 airbags. Lower variants are reported to get a smaller 6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The American carmaker has also tweaked the steering to be lighter and suspension setup to be softer on the Figo Crossover.

While a lighter steering would make the Figo Crossover less engaging to drive, the softly-sprung car will have a more pliant ride quality over bad roads. Under the hood will be an all-new 95 HP 1.2-litre Dragon series petrol engine which will come with a new Getrag MX65 manual gearbox. The 99 BHP 1.5-litre diesel engine is going to continue as it is. The car is likely to be launched in the next couple of months.
