Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Ford Fiesta facelift has been an overdue launch this year. However, for the enthusiasts and blue oval lovers, the wait might end soon as the updated Fiesta has started arriving at dealerships across the country. Mr. Saju Kuruvilla managed to snap these images while the Fiesta was parked at a dealer parking lot in Kochi and has also ramped up its marketing activities online hinting at a launch very soon.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta has been updated with the new and very prominent Aston Martin-like corporate grille coupled with chrome slats that lend a fresh appeal to the front fascia. The headlamp cluster and the front hood have been revised with mild tweaks. The bumper receives a new design and now gets sportier looking fog lamps. The side profile on the sedan remains the same but the rear gets some revisions with reworked bumper, license plate holder and tail lights that now look less bulky compared to the outgoing version.
On the inside though, the changes aren’t dramatic but lend a fresh appeal to the cabin. The centre console now gets gloss black finish instead of the old silver garnish. The car now comes with the Ford App Link system, updated SYNC, Emergency Assist and a start/stop button that will be offered on the range topping variant. The car also gets cruise control, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, keyless entry and much more. In terms of safety tech, the Fiesta is loaded with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags.
While the outgoing version is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, Ford recently confirmed that the updated Fiesta will only come with the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine that produces 89 HP of power and 204 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The sedan will most likely be updated with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine later. The 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift competes against the fourth-generation Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and the likes in the segment.
