Ford India has silently discontinued the outgoing Endeavour since January this year and is clearing stocks as it makes way to bring in the new generation model later this year.
While it may not have been a hot seller in its segment, the Ford Endeavour has always been an extremely capable SUV with some hefty off-roading skills. With the new generation model launched overseas, dealers across Mumbai have confirmed that Ford India has silently discontinued the outgoing Endeavour in the country since January this year and have stopped taking bookings from customers. In fact, dealers have also cleared the existing inventory of the SUV in the country. The company has also stopped dispatches of the SUV since last month.
In its second generation at present, the Ford Endeavour served well for almost a decade and received a slew of updates and facelifts during its run in the market. Built on a ladder on frame chassis, the SUV was well equipped to take on rugged roads with ease. The Endeavour last received a facelift in April last year with tweaks to the exteriors while its powertrain includes the 2.5-litre diesel and 3.0-litre diesel engines that are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. An automatic transmission along with AWD is also on offer on the 3.0-litre top-end variant.
In the following months, Ford India will be launching the third generation Endeavour (Everest internationally) that is a major upgrade over the outgoing model. While engine options are likely to be the same, the SUV will be heavily equipped with tech including SYNC 2 system, Terrain Management System along with All-Wheel Drive while the exteriors get the extremely sharp and prominent appearance with massive road presence. The new Endeavour will rival the next generation Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the likes in the segment with prices expected to start at Rs. 25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
