The Ford EcoSport is finally ready to hit the roads in a few weeks of time. Ford has arranged a global test drive for the EcoSport in Goa, which will be taking place within a few days for 150 experts and media professionals from around the globe including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Taiwan. Ford India will be exporting the EcoSport manufactured in its Chennai factory, hence the global test drive has been scheduled in India. Recently, variant details for the India-spec EcoSport surfaced on the web, which tells us that there are four trim options, namely Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Optional.
The engine options for the Ford EcoSport will include the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Fiesta derived petrol engine, the popular 1-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.5-litre TDCI turbo diesel engine. The base Ambiente variant will be available with only 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options with features including electric power steering with tilt and telescopic function, manual HVAC, music system with radio, aux, USB and Bluetooth inputs, electric ORVMs with turn indicators, remote central locking, front power windows, body colored bumpers, multi-function display, 100 percent rear seatback folding and 15-inch wheels with full covers.
The Trend variant too gets only 1.5-litre engine options with additional ABS, EBD, rear power windows, rear defogger with wash/wipe, body-colored ORVMs, 60/40 rear seat split, rear parcel tray, steering mounted controls, driver seat height adjust, rear power point, silver door handles, centre stack and air wing. The Titanium variant now gets an option of the much awaited 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol motor and 1.5-litre petrol with 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmission with added features like leather wrapped steering, SYNC system, 16-inch alloys, automatic climate control, roof rails, front armrest, cooled glove box, fog lamps, driver lumbar support, dual airbags, chrome exteriors and parking sensors.
The range topping Titanium Optional trim for the Ford EcoSport comes with leather seats, push button start, keyless vehicle system and side and curtain airbags. All in all, the EcoSport comes well equipped with features, even in the base Ambiente trim. The EcoSport is intended to take on the Renault Duster and the Mahindra Quanto with its aggressive price tag.
