Ford is all set to launch the EcoSport in June, which will be offered with three engines. The American automaker is betting heavily on its urban SUV and hopes to capture the market to a large extent. The company has worked extensively in localising content on the EcoSport, which has led to the massive delay. Pricing is extremely crucial in the Indian market, a lesson Ford learned the hard way with the new Fiesta. Thus the EcoSport should be offered at mouth watering prices, considering there are quite a few cost cutting measures.
The Ford EcoSport will be offered in four variants – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Option. The base Ambiente variant gets audio system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, body coloured front bumper (no variant gets body coloured rear bumper as the styling is in such a manner that the rear bumper is naturally not painted, as it is part of the black cladding running on the under side of the vehicle), front power windows, 15-inch wheels with full wheel covers.
The Trend variant adds ABS, EBD, steering mounted audio controls, rear power windows, rear defogger, rear washer and wiper, 60:40 split rear seats and driver seat height adjuster. Thus the Trend variant is quite feature loaded itself. The Titanium variant adds 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control, roof rails, dual airbags, chrome exterior highlights, rear parking sensors, leather steering, SYNC system, driver arm rest, driver seat lumbar adjustment, front fog lights and cooled glove box. The Titainium Option variant gets push button start, keyless entry, six airbags and leather seats.
As can be seen in the picture below, there will be 10 variants of the EcoSport on offer, across three engines. The diesel engined EcoSport will be offered in all four variants, while the EcoBoost engined EcoSport will be offered in Titanium and Titanium Option variants. The 1.5-litre petrol manual will be offered in all variants except the Titanium Option, while the 1.5-litre petrol engine with 6-speed PowerShift gearbox will be offered in Titanium trim, the automatic variant also gets Hill Hold Assist and ESP as standard.
