Ford India has recalled 7249 units of the EcoSport petrol to update PCM software.
Ford India has just announced a voluntarily recall of 7249 units of the EcoSport Petrol to update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software. The said update will prevent issues like battery drainage and sudden deceleration. Vehicles manufactured between November 2017 (the facelifted model was launched at this time) and March 2018 are affected by this issue.
The Ford EcoSport petrol which has been recalled is powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder motor that outputs 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque, matched to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox (the dual-clutch PowerShift has been discontinued). Ford launched the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engined EcoSport in May 2018 which produces 125 PS and 170 Nm.
Ford will contact customers via email or a letter. EcoSport customers can also check if their car is part of the recall by visiting the Ford India website and entering their 17 character VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).
Ford India has big plans for the future and is likely to launch a slew of cars, co-developed with Mahindra. However, independently, Ford has no plans to launch any all-new car till the end of this decade, it will however, launch facelifts of its existing cars with the Figo Aspire facelift launch scheduled for the 4th of October.
