Ford has guarded the interiors of the EcoSport like a crown jewel. The American automaker has showcased the Ford EcoSport extensively in the India but always kept the interiors in the dark. Either the Ford EcoSport is placed at such a height that the interiors are difficult to view or the windows are tinted jet black. Either way, the mystery has come to an end as the first spy shot of the EcoSports interior has been captured in Brazil. Ford has been extensively testing the EcoSport in Brazil but there is yet to be a sighting of an on test EcoSport in India.
The interiors of the Ford EcoSport share a large chunk of its design elements with other Ford cars, especially the Fiesta and the B-Max (pictured below). The aircon vents are horizontal in the EcoSport, while they are vertical in the B-Max. The center console of the EcoSport is more or less the same as the B-Max. The black theme of the interiors is in-line with what we have been seeing on Ford cars off-late. Ford could also offer coral colour on the dashboard like they do on the Figo. The dashboard features chrome inserts on certain parts, which break the black monotony.
Ford will be launching the EcoSport in India by October this year. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine with OverBoost technology, producing 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. A 1.5-litre diesel engine will be offered too, which is the same unit which does duty on the Fiesta. Power from the 1.5 TDCi engine is 90 PS, while the torque is 200 Nm. The Renault Duster will be launched in June and will be the biggest competitor to the EcoSport. Expect the EcoSport to start at around Rs. 7 lakhs for the base petrol (ex-showroom, Delhi).
