Ford has updated the infotainment system of the EcoSport and now the unit will run on Android OS, instead of the earlier Windows software.
This has been communicated by the carmaker to all of its dealers back in September via a notification.
The new Android OS Fly Audio for Ford EcoSport will bring with it new functionalities such as – Wi-Fi connectivity, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, conference call facility and live traffic updates with offline maps.
In addition, Bluetooth customisation will be offered and there is no need for a separate SD card for navigation anymore.
This will be available on EcoSport variants from the following VIN cut off –
- Titanium+/Trend/Trend+ – LE43575
- Titanium – LE462888
Based on reports, the new Ford EcoSport infotainment system will run on Android 4.2.2 operating system and will be fitted to cars manufactured from August this year.
Also, it is stated that Ford claims the Android OS will significantly improve the performance of the head-unit. But, existing vehicles with Windows-based Fly Audio cannot be converted to the latest system due to different hardware compatibility.
