Ford Brazil recently conducted a university level talent design competition asking the amateur designers to imagine how they wanted the Ford EcoSport to look after 10 years. The contest received many interesting design concepts by the students. Mr. Eudes Fernandes Rocha, student of College of Goias won the first prize and drove home a brand new Ford Ka. The runners up were given electronic gadgets and free course on image editing which would further enhance their designing skills.
Mr. Eudes Fernandes’s radically high riding design concept colored in yellow which had a steeply raked front windshield, a large sunroof and huge tires stood out of the rest and won the talent competition. Second prize went to the concept which looked like an off-road version of Renault Twizzy with Ford EcoSport’s design genes. The sketch of the white car which was a more realistic evolution of the Ford EcoSport in 10 years was voted to be the most popular design.
If Ford India conducts such type of contests in India, it is likely to be a success and many creative ideas will come to light. The basic idea of conducting student contests like these by various manufacturers is to identify the creativity among the future designers and engineers. The Ford EcoSport has already drawn a lot of eye candy in India, thanks to its styling. The American automaker is all set to launch the compact SUV early next year, with both petrol and diesel engines on offer. The EcoSport will compete with the succesful Renault Duster.
